Careers
At J Edwards, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional standards and the very best of care to our bereaved families and their loved ones. We believe that this is only possible if we have the right people to help us achieve this.
Our training
We will train you to the highest standards through our in-house academy programme. All of our Funeral Co-ordinators and Funeral Assistants join us through our apprenticeship scheme so you will have a step by step learning journey, adapted to complement your learning style. We will support and encourage you to develop your skills, helping you to progress your career.
Our roles
Funeral Co-ordinator
Our Funeral Co-ordinators provide a warm, compassionate and comprehensive choice of services to families during their time of need. They take care of all aspects of arranging a funeral, with no detail too small and no challenge too big.
Why I love my job? – No two days are the same; you are meeting different people every day. One friend said to me won’t it all be too sad? It’s really not but if you do find things hard, there is a brilliant bereavement team to help you with additional support.
Suzanne, Funeral Co-ordinator

Funeral Assistant
Our Funeral Assistants provide a prompt and professional service to our families. They help to bring a loved one into our care with sensitivity and respect. They take care of preparations and assist on the day of the funeral to ensure everything runs seamlessly and to the highest standard.
My Job as a Funeral Assistant consists of anything from driver to pallbearer, taking care of loved ones including the transportation and preparation for chapel visits. My job is very satisfying and I enjoy every aspect. I love working as part of Southern Co-op, it is a very rewarding company to work for and we have a great team.
